About Me….redefined

It just recently occurred to me to reread the “About Me” part of my blog. It was a good lesson in what I should and shouldn’t use to describe myself. Here’s what it currently says:
Perennially searching… but what I search for changes. A 24-yr old graduate student living in New York City. Love to travel, try new things, discover new interests. I have traveled to all continents except South America and Antarctica and I am trying very hard to change that. Hope you enjoy reading about my travels!
Problem is, a lot of the demographic information is no longer true! I am no longer 24 (sigh…25 1/2 years wiser if you will). I am definitely not a graduate student anymore, in that, I no longer get to defer payments on my student loans. I moved to Chicago about 6 months ago for a new job.
What hasn’t changed is most of everything else… Love to travel, try new things, discover new interests. Perennially searching… but what I search for changes.
Goes to show… there are things about you that constantly change… location, jobs, hair color, tan lines. But there are things that are core to your definition of yourself and if you ground your identity around those things, you are in good shape. Back to the title of my blog: it’s the pattern under the chaos that gives you meaning.

PS: Another thing I am happy to report has changed… I have now been to South America!!!! Check!
